Due to technical difficulties, there will be no post today. Gotcha! Hubby told me to post that line....
This is a reschedule stop in Cozumel. We were suppose to dock here on Monday, but due to a late departure from Port of Houston, the Captain rescheduled Cozumel from Monday to Thursday. That way we would not lose a port day.
We ate an early breakfast around 6am this morning. Way too early! We had to meet with or snorkeling group at 7:30am down at the dock. There was hardly anyone there, so we did some window shopping. We met back with our tour guide and got the bad news. Our excursion to Planacar Reef was canceled along with our beach stop at Playa Mia. The weather was suppose to reach a balmy 75 degrees this afternoon. So you can imagine how cold and chilly is was in port early this morning. The winds picked up and the water around port was very choppy. Hubby mentioned 4 feet swells.
Our Caribbean Princess docked in Cozumel. Can you see the back looks like a handle of a handbag?
I did some exploring on my own and took a few pictures for a couple. The young lady wanted to reciprocate and took my picture:
We came back to the ship and stopped by the excursion desk to let them know our snorkeling tour was canceled. We stopped by our cabin to drop off our snorkeling bags and headed back down to the port area. Funny thing about us. We had several opportunities where the Princess photographers took our pictures both leaving the ship and coming back. So, we'll be sure to see plenty of Cozumel pictures posted onboard this evening. By the way, Princess photographers uses Nikon D300s DSLR cameras. Nice touch (coming from a Nikon Nerd).
We had docked at the International Pier. We left that pier and headed down to the next pier called Puerta Maya, which had two Carnival ships in port. Puerta Maya in my opinion is a more "happening" port. There are definitely more places to eat and drink and well, be merry!
We walked around and did some shopping here and then ventured to Pancho's Backyard for what I call...second breakfast at 10am!
I tried to do some bargaining in Puerta Maya, but since many of the shops here are "cruise recommended", nothing really appealed to me. We headed back to the International port where our CB was docked. Here's what I found:
Doesn't this remind of your the turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean? It's opal and blue topaz. I showed an interest in the earrings and the price kept dropping as I kept walking away from the vendor. I received a great deal! Helps to have some cash in my pocket. :)
Here are additional pictures from port:
