Sunday (01/12): Testing 1-2-3

If you can read this post, my connection to the Internet on the ship is working (and I don't know how many days later).

Once we got back into the terminal yesterday (~5:30pm), we flashed our cruise card and proceeded to the shortest line for security. After retrieving our bags, we were allowed to board the ship. After we boarded the Caribbean Princess (CB), we dropped our carryon luggage in our room. It felt great to not have all that gadget weight on my shoulders/back. By this time our luggage had already arrived in our room. Sweet!

It was a little after 6pm and when we realized we were hungry. We walked up to the Lido deck 15 and took a stroll across this deck. Here, we passed the pizza and grille area and walked past the two pools. Movies Under the Stars (MUTS) is also located here. At the back of the ship, we found the Horizons Buffet.

The crew was serving everyone at the buffet. They will do this for the next day or two as a preventive measure to make sure the Norovirus doesn't reoccur. Horizons wasn't that busy which was good for us. Kind of like the calm before the storm.

We actually did a great job and didn't fill our plate. I could actually see the plate in between my small portions of food.

After our meal, we headed back to our cabin and quickly unpacked our 3 suitcases. We hooked up with our room steward, Woodie. He looked really tired from the day's activities. We received notification that our muster drill would start around 8pm.

After muster, our bed was turned down for the night. We also noticed we were moving. We didn't feel any movement, but when we looked out our balcony, we could see the pier/dock/world was moving by. I heard it took an hour to get out of the channel and into the Gulf. It was dark and all we could see was the lights of Houston behind us and whatever was in the channel with us. Every so often, I would hear a loud engine go by and then some lights. Like big lights. From our balcony I could see the huge tankers go by and they were pretty close to our ship. I would have loved to seen this in daylight along with my camera.

Hopefully, if everything works out well and gets posted, I'll be back with today's activities from sea....
