We head out of the cruise port terminal and walk outside the security gate. A few minutes later, we see some taxis waiting to take cruisers to their destinations. It’s $2 per person to get to Mahahual and off we go!
We have the driver drop us off at Blue Kay, the first resort at the beginning of the Malecon or boardwalk. The boardwalk area is not a true boardwalk, but a concrete and stone walkway that goes for miles along Mahahual’s beach area.
Here we are at the beach:
Look how calm the water is this morning! In a few minutes we will be snorkeling right off the beach. Easy entry:
To the north, we see the light house and in the distance the Caribbean Princess:
Along the way we can see these tiny fish wading in the water:
It’s getting a bit crowded at the other resort next door to Blue Kay:
We enjoy Blue Kay for the sandy beach and quiet atmosphere and snorkeling:
We have been here before last year. The only difference? Today was bright and sunny and getting hotter. We knew we were in for a treat:
Next door to Blue Kay is another resort which for some reason I can not remember the name. You can see the entry into the water is just darn rocky:
At this resort, you’ll need water shoes:
Back at Blue Kay and it’s beautiful sand:
Up next? Our snorkeling adventure!
